Helping students master STEM subjects, one question at a time
Hi, I'm Alex, the founder of Decipher Physics. I am a recent PhD graduate in condensed matter physics, from the UK. I've experienced each stage of the education system firsthand, and discovered which learning methods actually work, and which are a waste of time.
Many students struggle with physics and other STEM subjects because they focus on memorising equations and text rather than understanding the concepts. Though available revision tools have improved since I took my GCSE's (with various new applications and online resources), they are still far from optimal (in my opinion), and are usually expensive.
My goal is to create a go-to application for learning physics and other STEM subjects, that actually works, and is free to use.
24% of students who took GCSE physics state that poor teaching is why they dropped it, higher than any other subject (Ofqual 2024). Chemistry and Biology aren't much better in this regard. Clearly, we’re missing something when teaching STEM.
So I built Decipher Physics: a free app with interactive lessons and practice questions. Initially this app contained just step-by-step GCSE Physics practice questions, which are still accessible under legacy. I have now expanded it to have interactive lessons and practice questions for several of my YouTube video lectures too.

The goal is simple: make Decipher Physics the best free physics learning tool out there.
